HOBBY SPOTLIGHT
Want to share your hobby or pets? Reach out to gen.panem@se.com to get featured in the next newsletter! • Another challenge is the weather. Too much sun can be harmful, and walking in the rain isn’t always safe or comfortable. So, I often have to adjust my routine or skip a day, which can be frustrating when I’m trying to stay on track. Let’s get to know Jocel , our skilled Business Intelligence Analyst who develops and maintains insightful reports and visualizations that drive data-informed decisions and track key performance metrics. Outside of work, Jocel enjoys walking—a hobby she’s cherished since childhood. What began as walks to her grandparents’ house to save fare for street food has grown into her favorite way to unwind and recharge. Did you know? A study commissioned by Ordnance Survey (OS) in the UK found that the average adult walks about 74,462 miles over their lifetime, based on an average of 6,839 steps per day. This distance is roughly equivalent to three times the Earth’s circumference, which is about 24,901 miles (40,075 km). What Jocel likes about Walking: What I love about walking is that it’s simple and free—you don’t need any special gear or plans to do it. But more than that, it’s really therapeutic. It helps clear my mind and gives me a sense of calm. I also enjoy how it creates space for meaningful conversations. When I walk with someone, it feels easier to open up and connect, like the rhythm of walking makes everything flow more naturally. What Jocel finds challenging: • One of the biggest challenges with my hobby is staying consistent. Reaching 10,000 steps a day usually means walking for at least two hours, which can be hard to fit into a busy schedule. I try to start my walk by 7 a.m. to avoid the harsh sun later in the day, but even that takes discipline.
