HOBBY SPOTLIGHT

Julia Fan is a Singapore-based Director of Customer Service. Outside of work, she likes to learn and play the Guqin.

What is a Guqin?

The Guqin is a plucked seven-string musical instrument originating from China. It is over 3,000 years old and is viewed as an elite art form practices by scholars and noblemen.

What Julia likes about the Guqin: • It’s a soul-touching instrument

• It’s rich in history and associated with the ancient Chinese philosophy of Zen What Julia finds challenging: • Practicing is a time-consuming process • The ancient music language used in the score can be complicated
