ASCO FEATURE
Adam Seid is the Director of Project Management. He oversees harmonious communication to execute backup power projects for the most complex applications. Outside of work, he does the same thing except with piano music.
Adam first played the piano at five years old, trying to figure out songs by ear. He improved his craft by learning how to play sheet music and understanding chord structure.
The upright piano in Adam’s home. He got it for free after seeing it in a local newspaper ad and doing
some restorations. Did you know? Playing the piano improves cognitive function and promotes a positive mood in adults as suggested by studies. What do you like about it? • It’s a stress reliever. My favorite thing to do is play back songs I hear on the radio and songs suggested by people on the spot. • It’s fun to compose songs of different musical styles. In college, I was a piano player in a comedy improv group called Mixed Signals where I composed music on the fly. Challenges: • Sight reading sheet music requires a lot of hand-eye coordination • The unwieldly design of the piano makes it difficult to carry around
